As she tossed her graduation hat in the air, and the striking sound of the light rail train came to a stop, strangers began to applaud. Being among people who don’t know her story or hardships overcome, they still understood her journey and applauded her accomplishments. Knowing that many don’t get this far in life and even though the pandemic robbed her of a traditional ceremony, Lyric grabbed her profound moment and her graduation stage was now at Main Street & Bell Street of Downtown Houston, TX.
Words can’t express how proud I am of my baby sister Lyric! She’s graduating on top, against all odds and the sky’s the limit. COVID wasn’t going to stop her vibrant personality from shining in her senior portrait session in Downtown Houston. Lyric has persevered through so many obstacles to get to this point. After the passing of our mother her senior year of high school, Lyric continued her education at Miami Dade College playing basketball. Being a student-athlete comes with its challenges, including enduring injuries that take a toll on your knees and ankles, yet nothing so troubling for God’s plan to work in His timing. In addition to her athletic achievement, this scholar maintains her spot on the Dean’s List semester after semester! Lyric is planting new roots at Angelo State University, in San Angelo, Texas, where becoming a Lady Ram will be the reset she needs. “Regroup when needed, Reassess often, Be Relentless, and Slow down on your journey but Never Stop.” – Lyric Spriggins
